KSA was born on September 22, 1946 in Oshogbo, Osun state after a prophesy came that his pregnant mother must not give birth to him in his father’s house in Ondo otherwise he will die. KSA did not get to see his father until he was 4. It was in Oshogbo which is known for its artistic and cultural orientation that KSA’s interest in music started, fate at work you will say.
Another reason the master guitarist deserves celebrating turning 70 in grand style was his near death sickness in the 80s. KSA was taken for dead after he fell sick for over a year but he survived it. In 2013, the juju musician lost two of his wives within one year and many thought he might not survive the shock but he did. At almost 70, the master guitarist toured and performed in 36 states of America. Now you know why he has to celebrate turning 70 in grand style.
The king of world beats, KSA revealed he had started his birthday celebrations since September 1, 2016 with a special prayer from the general overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor E. A. Adeboye.
The juju music maestro who will turn 70 on September 22 added that because he it is a milestone age, this year’s birthday celebration will last for three months as against the usual one week celebration. “My 70th birthday will span through September 21 till the end of December.”
Highlight of the events lined up to celebrate him includes: Gospel Music Night in his Ondo hometown on September 21. On the 22 which is his birthday, there will be a special prayer session with all his children around him in his house which will be followed by an in-house party. On September 23, will be visitation to charity homes.

There will be a real ‘owambe’ birthday bash on September 24. Then On September 27, there’ll be a special lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University in collaboration with his Royal Majesty, Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi which will be followed by a grand reception at the palace.
In October there will be a birthday party in South Africa, a book launch later in the month and a special music concert that will have hip hop acts, fuji and juju artists celebrating the king of world beats in Ibadan while the Redeemed Christian Church of God will host him to a special program.
Members of FIBAN are also planning a party as well as PMAN and several other bodies that are waiting for dates to confirm when they’ll host and celebrate him. KSA belongs to almost 80 clubs and they all want to celebrate him too. His birthday celebration will also have international flavor with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Yousou Ndor, Awilo and others performing at a concert later this year.
KSA is the first Nigerian and first African to be nominated twice for Grammy Awards. He was given an award for his outstanding contribution to world music at the International Reggae World Music Awards in 2008.
Don’t he think he deserves to be celebrated?
