Vanguard reports that all journalists and supporters of Mohammed, who came to offer him support, were barred from entering into the court premises by stern looking policemen.
It quoted a disgusted police officer on duty at the court gates as lampooning media men while confirming that the order to bar the press was handed down ‘from above’.
“I have intolerance to anybody; journalist inclusive. Our order is straight, and that is to disallow anyone from entering here,” the unnamed officer was quoted as saying.
Mohammed is the first child of the late All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Abubakar Audu, who died suddenly during last year’s governorship elections in Kogi.
Mohammed has always been critical of the state governor, Yahaya Bello’s government after failing to convince the APC to field him in place of his dead father when INEC declared the election inconclusive.
The Kogi state government has denied having a hand in the matter but as at Thursday when Mohammed was arraigned, it was not clear on what grounds he was arrested or docked.
